Fall 2026 Newsletter
Dear Students, Parents and Friends:
Well, the Seattle summer is over. It was great while it lasted, but now is the time for darker days, colder temperatures and rain. Lots of rain. So what better time than now to get in and train?!
We just finished competing at the 12th Annual SIMAC and we are so proud of all of our students. Everyone put in their best effort, and regardless of whether or not they won a medal, they all have the respect and acknowledgement from both Lu Laoshi and Chang Laoshi.
We also want to thank all the volunteers who came out to help with the event. From the wonderful judging staff(Sara, Fanghui, Chang, Kerry, and John) to the volunteers who kept the machine running(scorekeepers Sarah and Michelle, timekeeper Leigh, and competitor wrangler Scott), we were so lucky to have you all working so hard to make our event a success. You guys are the real MVPs and we thank you very much.
Moving forward, the first thing on the agenda for the quarter is: we have a demo coming up! On Saturday September 26th, we’ll be demonstrating in Seattle Chinatown’s Night Market. Our slot is scheduled for 3 PM and if you’re not already on the demo team and you’re in the Seattle area, we’d love for you to come out and support the school!
Meanwhile, all classes will be learning new information while continuing to review previous techniques. As is always the case, we are committed to providing students with opportunities to hone their self-defense and healing abilities in addition to learning traditional forms. As always, it is the belief of both Chang Laoshi and Dr. Lu that it is important to train with purpose.
For the Qigong class, Dr. Lu will be continuing the teaching of Wudang Yi Jin Jing. In addition, Dr. Lu will be teaching lung qigong to coincide with the changing season.
For the Kids’ Class, Dr. Lu and Chang Laoshi will continue to teach kids’ Sanda techniques (Chinese boxing/kickboxing). Kids will also continue to train in the two-handed broadsword. Kids will delve deeper into this weapon technique, learning two-person drills to make their training more dynamic. In addition, kids will continue to learn traditional acrobatics as well as review previous material.
There is no better time than now to come in and train, either in person or online! We can’t wait to see everyone in the new quarter and share our art with you!
Want to go more in depth on a particular subject? Set up a private lesson with either Chang Laoshi or Dr. Lu! Lessons can be either 30, 60, or 90 minutes long depending on your budget. Subjects can cover anything you want to learn or improve upon.
