Summer 2025 Newsletter
Dear Students, Parents and Friends:
Happy Summer! (To everyone in the Northern Hemisphere.)
We hope you are all enjoying the weather. Here in the Pacific Northwest, the temperatures are rising and children are out of school. This is the time of year for camping, and vacations, and…… TRAINING!
Dr. Lu and Chang Laoshi have just gotten back from their teaching trip to Australia. The two day workshop was hosted by their student Aidan O’Brien and was conducted at the University of Technology Sydney. Both Dr. Lu and Chang Laoshi were impressed by the dedication and enthusiasm shown by everyone in attendance and were happy to spread Wudang Dan Pai arts to other parts of the world.
In other news, we have a competition coming up on Sunday September 7th! Once again Sifu Li Tianyuan will be hosting the event and once again Chang Laoshi and Dr. Lu will be in charge of the sword sparring division. The competition will be held in the same location as last year, the Bellevue College Gym. Students are encouraged to participate in competition if they like. If not, you are all encouraged to stop by and support your fellow classmates if you are in the area. In addition, we are in need of volunteers to help out with judging the sword event. Anyone who is interested will receive training and preparation from Chang Laoshi and Dr. Lu beforehand.
Meanwhile, all classes will be learning new information while continuing to review previous techniques. As is always the case, we are committed to providing students with opportunities to hone their self-defense and healing abilities in addition to learning traditional forms. It is the belief of both Chang Laoshi and Dr. Lu that it is important to train with purpose.
For the Qigong class, Dr. Lu will be reviewing the Wudang Xuanmen Dan Pai Neigong techniques. In addition, students will be exploring the Dragon Body Qigong as taught by Xingyiquan Grandmaster Yang Fansheng.
For the Kids’ Class, Dr. Lu and Chang Laoshi will be reviewing Wudang Cha Quan and two-person staff forms for students as well as preparing them to learn the two-handed sword!
There is no better time than now to come in and train, either in person or online! We can’t wait to see everyone in the new quarter and share our art with you!
